MOst if not all of the books are older and no longer copyrighted. There are also books at http://www.gutenberg.org/

There are some great classics available on the site.

I hate ebooks. So hard to read. I prefer a nice bound dead-tree version. I dunno, the format of the pages, the flipping rather than scrolling, is so much better. Plus, you can amass a huge library that you can read at any time AND which also impresses visitors.
