Downgrading from Vista to XP Pro

Received a Dell E1505 with Vista Premium. The person who I got the laptop for wants XP Pro. So, I put in my XP Pro disc but the option to install it isn't highlighted/accessible.

Never had that problem when doing installs but I can't seem to figure out how to replace Vista with XP just by using my XP disc. What am I doing wrong? Brain is fried today so it's going right over my head. 😕

Boot from CD with XP disk in tray?

Yea, in the BIOS either set the CD-ROM to boot first or select the option to "Boot from CD" from the boot menu shortly after POST. Good luck.

Press F12 when the DELL blue banner is at the top of the black screen, this will give you the one time boot order selection menu. Select the CD Rom Drive with the XP CD in it.
