The Celeron G470 2.00GHz single-core w/ hyperthreading processor I've always been raving about is now available for purchase as new, CPU only for $17.95 shipped on eBay, item number 391528797191. Maybe VirtualLarry is interested. Buy three for $53.85 total, which I plan to do, get 10% eBay bucks cashback ($5.39) with a minimum of $50 purchase, expires on 12:00 AM, 9/17.

Only 7 left...wow... This one is harder to find than G465 historically. I know I can resell it back for $27 each, so you're gaining here.

What is the cheapest motherboard to pair with that chip? I need a CPU+mobo combo to prep a new SSD for my friend.

G470 gets less obsolete each day with latest Windows 10 installed. Blows Baytrail and Braswell away.

While true, I would rather have a single "big core" with HyperThreading, than an Atom CPU, at least for browsing with Firefox, I still don't think that those CPUs are worth $17-18. Maybe $10-12.

Edit: What we really need, is a 4.0Ghz (or at least 3.5Ghz) Skylake single-core with HyperThreading. That would be pretty amazing.

These Sandy Bridge Celeron single-cores with HyperThreading, are a bit underwhelming, at 2.0Ghz. (The speed of the S775 Core2-era Celeron 440 single-core.)

Celeorn G470's single-thread score is 1017. Celeron 440 is 659. That's 35% improvement. :mask: Celeron G470 is 4 years older but still faster than 2017 Celeron J3060 it replaced for the budget market.

G440 < G460 < G465 < G470 > J1800 > J3060

What's wrong with the picture?
