LOL. It is painful to play Source at 1920x1200. So, now I play at 720x480. hehe

Anyone else downgrade lately?

I did in order to have my computer on all the time without horrible idle power draw.

There are more modern video cards that have low idle power draw and can still play the games with everything turned up.

You're doing it wrong... going on memory shouldn't a 5750/5770 give good enough performance on decent power draw without wanting to hang yourself with the resolution?

you should have bought a 5870 o_O. 18 watt idle from the card is FTMFW ^_^

I have a 9800 GX2. I turn my PC off at night. I usually have my PC (not gaming atm; light load), TV, reciever, a couple lights, and a fan on most of the day. Not paying for heat or cooling atm. My electric bill is usually ~$27. Latest one was $25.

I don't think the idle draw is too bad (the idle heat is ridiculous though). I'm very curious about the impact an idle 5850 would have on my bill...

It costs me $70 a month to leave my computer on all night. I discovered this sad fact two months ago when I started using it as a HTPC to stream media to my 360. At the end of that month my bill was $260. I cried a little inside and decided to keep it off at night. The next month the bill went back down to the normal $190.

The worst part? I use integrated video and sound, have only one hard drive and optical drive.

Modern cards= money.

I am not spending money till about two weeks before quakecon.

I cannibalized a comp we replaced at the office. The vid card has a passive heatsink. My computer is quiet now. The 9800gx2 was the last gen(i think) that had horrendous idle draw.
