Hi, I'm trying to downgrade my eMachines T5246 to windows XP and i've had no luck finding the drivers. I tried contacting customer support but they said they do not support changing the OS.

any ideas?

Well, I'd take a look inside the manual and look at your specs, then go to the manufacturer's websites (not emachines)

OP likely won't find any brand on any of the hardware, other than eMachines.

What made you downgrade? Maybe we can help fix whatever is wrong with Vista.

Have you gone over the Device Manager list and looked up the individual devices to see if you can find generic (not e-Machies) device drivers for each device? If you haven't already done so, print out the device list before erasing the existing OS.

What's forcing you to downgrade?

people are scared of change?

Just because someone would rather use XP instead of Vista does not mean they have some irrational fear of change. Don't be asinine. Some people like XP and some people like Vista - it's that simple.

I had to switch my office pc os from vista to xp too since there are some software that just refuse to work complete for vista.

I guess i ilike XP better then Vista, it just feels better.

The drivers that are missing are:
Audio Device
Video Controller
SM Bus Controller
PCI Bridge
PCI Simple Communications Controller

Those drivers should be pretty easy to find.

The Video is a GeForce 6100. You can get the driver directly from NVidia.
The sound is Realtek HD. You can get the drivers from Realtek or from other Emachines drivers for similar motherboards using XP.
Like this one.

I don't know much about AMD CPUs and their support chipsets. It's likely that the chipset driver on the page I listed above would work for your chipset, too.

After six years of using XP, I switched to Vista on my desktop a couple of weeks ago. Generally, I can't tell the difference. When I do "tech" things, which most folks don't get involved in, I've found several changes in Control Panel and other control locations that's taken a bit of getting used to. UAC doesn't bother me a bit.

I think a better term would be "switch" instead of "downgrade."

how about upgrade? heheh

Before the release of SP1, this was indeed the case. They're now starting to equal each other out, though.

Go to Windows Update in your browser, select 'custom' updates instead of 'express', then wait for the result. Under 'hardware, optional', you should be offered fairly recent drivers for pretty much everything there.

Of course, a suitable nic driver must be installed locally first.
