downgrade dx11 to 9c

Hello, I am having problems with playing a game and the work around for this is that I need dx9.0c. I currently have 11 installed on my x64 win7 system. Is there anyway to downgrade to 9.0c? I tried running the installer (dx9.0c-redist and web installer for 9.0c). Neither of which worked. when I run dxdiag it still shows my version of 11. Any ideas? Thanks.

I don't know about rolling back to DX9, but have you tried running the game in Windows XP compatibility mode?

What game is this?

Yes I have tried it on compatibility mode and it gave me the same problems. Its FFXIV beta and apparently will only run on dx 9.0c. I know that this is the problem I just need to know how to get rid of dx11 and go back to 9.0c. Thanks.

Meh, that sucks.

The only thing that I can think of is to go to a System Restore Point that pre-dates the DX11 installation.

hmm that would be nice, but that was a long long time ago 😉

what about messing with the registry? Delete the DirectX folder:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\DirectX.

edit - guess I just need to actually read your post. Ignore whatever's I say.

You don't need to roll back - you just need to install it.
