downclocking an NVIDIA GPU

I am running XP Pro. What software should I be using to downclock (yes, downclock) my 6800 GT? Would Coolbits work, or do I have to go with something like RivaTuner?

It's artifacting like crazy, that's why.

Precision looks bloated (and ugly) by the way. What's the most lightweight solution out there?

Your powersupply might be to blame or the card might be dying. There's no reason at all a card should be artifacting at stock speeds.

LOL, aren't those contradictory statements? If a card is dying then of course that would be a reason for it to artifact at stock speeds! It could also be overheating. The fan could be failing. Or memory modules could be failing. There are many reasons why a stock card can artifact, especially when it's an old one like a 6600GT.

I ended up using RivaTuner. Works just fine, and the GUI is much better than Precision's. Too bad downclocking (1000 MHz -> 500 MHz) did very little to fix the artifacting, though.

No, but I doubt it's the issue, as the temps seem fine, and I also tried downclocking the GPU (350 MHz -> 175 MHz) with no success. It's too late at this point anyway, as I've already ordered the replacement card and am picking it up this week.
