Downclock speeds on HD 4890

I bought a 4890 this weekend and have been lucky enough to get one that runs stable at 975/1015 stable in every game I play. My question is has anyone seen how far they can downclock it for just logging in , web use, video ........ just everyday use?

I'm interested in this as well, as I'm close to pulling the trigger on a 4890. 🙂

When I'm not gaming, I like to save as much power as possible. Was thinking about getting the GTX260, but can get a 4890 for just a little bit more.

Blue I hope someone has done it if not I will play with it by Friday.... I have a project I have to get done in my woodshop🙂

I would like to see this as part of the video card reviews..... not all (most) of us don't run full out all the time.

I am not sure what you guys mean by "downclock". HD 4890 has 3 different clock speeds for core (240, 500, 850) and it automatically changes the clock speed according to load.

Memory on the other hand doesn't like such transitions. I noticed it'll clock down to its original frequency when core speed 500MHz is needed. (usually with 1080p contents) I have heard this behavior is due to "quad-pumped" nature of GDDR5.
