I have two decent computers, both using a US Robotics 56k Performance Pro Gaming Modem, which until this day have always given me either 48k or 49.2k steady connection. Last night we had a snowstorm, but we've had many snow storms in the past, so I'm having a hard time seeing any relation.

But anyway, I wake up this morning, and I get a 24.2k connection. I decided to dial using my second computer on a different phone jack, and I would get the same connection. Later, I get 19.2 k, and now both computers will both dial up no higher than 19.2k connection. It is absolutely insane. I called my interent service provider and they told me there was no problem and that it must be my phone line. They ran some tests and said it was not their end.

So I called Verizon and they ran some tests also and said nothing was coming back negative. I'm wondering if perhaps something is going goofy internally. that is such a drastic drop in performance if you ask me...from 49 to 19! Both computers on the same line, but both using different jacks, connecting at 19.2k. It would be just ludicrous to think that both of my modems go out at the same time.

Any ideas as to what I might do to go about solving this issue? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Try making a call to a different ISP before you do anything else.
