Is the sky still falling?

Strong jobs report, too.

https://www.foxbusiness.com/economy/august-adp-job-growth

Just think, we're in the middle of a trade war with China, slapping them around getting them into shape, and our economy is still the envy of the world. Trump is doing great in getting those trade deals churned out.

Trump's only trade deal that amounts to anything more than a vague promise by another country has not been put into effect and may never be as it seems unable to pass Congress. Meanwhile, he seems baffled that China has not capitulated to him (and won't), all because he's too stupid to understand how international trade works. lol. Doing great indeed.

I am looking forward to something in the next several months though where Trump effectively surrenders to China. My prediction as to how that goes will be that China will give the US a few token, largely meaningless concessions that Trump (and then you!) will trumpet as the greatest trade victory in history.

I enjoy watching you try to create negatives while our economy soars. You're like the Baghdad Bob of the economy.

Amusing but not surprising that Trumpists have memory holed the fact that USMCA (already only modestly different from NAFTA) stands almost no chance of becoming law. Such a bigly victory!

I bet if you polled Trumpers about USMCA a large majority would think:

  1. it’s already law.
  2. it has led to significant economic gains for the US.

Not sure if this is more funny or more sad.

The only way the trade war with China ends is with Trump surrendering.

No reason for China to do so, lots of political benefits for them and so far little downside. Otoh Trump is in a very weak position and highly vulnerable going into election season.

China has means to really rattle US stock markets if they want to, a scoreboard Trump (and @SlowSpyder ) have emphasized.

Only question is if they really want Trump out of the Whitehouse given what a poor strategist and defender of the Western alliance he is vs a Democrat who will be much more competent and strong defender of NATO.

If your goal was to weaken the West, you'd have a hard time finding a better tool for chaos and division than DJT.

Another light on the dash starting to flicker:

https://www.cnbc.com/2019/09/06/us-nonfarm-payrolls-august-2019.html

Job growth continued at a tepid pace in August, with nonfarm payrolls increasing by just 130,000 thanks in large part to the temporary hiring of Census workers, the Labor Department reported Friday.

The increase fell short of Wall Street estimates for 150,000, while the unemployment rate stayed at 3.7%, as expected. An alternative measure of the jobless rate, which includes discouraged and underemployed workers, increased to 7.2% from 7% in July, due mainly to a 397,000 increase in those working part-time for economic reasons.

With the previous June and July reports revised lower as well, monthly job growth in the U.S. has slowed to just 158,000, compared with 223,000 per month a year ago.

25K of those August jobs are for the census.

While that is no doubt true, I don't think China cares about NATO and probably does not want to weaken the West, that is Russia's goal. China's plan to become the next top superpower has been, and continues to be, economic not military, and they are well on their way to winning that contest of economies. All they really need to do to win is continue to improve the lives of their people and soon they will be the biggest consumer of products in the world. The trade war is probably not good for their plan, but it does not really help us either.

What is in Slow's boiler? What could possibly keep this mythical entity going? Must be a sham account fired by Russian agents. Can't possibly be a human being.

I always assumed methamphetamines and wood alcohol.
