NEW YORK (CNNMoney.com) - The Dow industrials crossed the 11,000 mark for the first time in more than 4-1/2 years Monday, aided by an upgrade of blue-chip General Motors.
The Dow (up 37.16 to 10,996.47, Charts) rose 0.3 percent, hitting the 11,000 mark for the first time since June 13, 2001, reaching as high as 11,012.40 before retreating slightly. The Dow's all-time high stands at 11,722.98 reached on Jan. 14, 2000.
