Doug Lombardi speaks about TEAM FORTRESS: 2

Doug Lombardi - TF2 is not dead at all. After we announced TF2 on the HL1 tech, we made the decision to move it to the Source Engine. It is still in development and we will be announcing more on that title after HL2 ships.

Sounds pretty enticing.

interview: source

My predictions for TF2:

- Now: Valve says they will not release any info on TF2 until HL2 comes out. So, to me, this means we will not hear of see anything till December.
- December: We get 4 screenshots of the game, another interview with Doug L. saying its going to revolutionize MP gaming.
- March: E3 rolls around, and they finally allow some people to play a very limited version of the game, namely gaming magazine editors. Then Valve will announce a summer release date.
- Summer: Summer rolls around, but the game gets pushed back a few months due to some more bug squashing.
- November: Of course, the game finally comes out.
- The End.

So, my point is, its a year away. 😀

the real question is will it be included in one of the gaming packages (hopefully silver and up cause that is what I got), or if you will have to pay for it seperatly

You forgot a Source code leak, and at least 3 delays

😛

I don't know if any ideas that they had are still salvagable, a lot of the stuff that they were shooting for in TF2 has been done by other companies who have managed to put out a game in the last 6 years. I guess all we can do is wait and see.

I dont even expect the game to begin with....i stopped expecting it 2 years after they announced it. I used to really like TFC...except for rocket and conc jumps....macros for rocket and conc jumps.....and the damn sniper rifle you had to charge; which *always* went to the guy with the lowest ping whether he was worth a damn or not.

hmm

/rant

oops 🙂

TBH I would prefer the modding community came up with one before they released anything - they did it best 1st time round and will do so again 🙂

I agree TFC offers nothing new anymore - all the features that got you salivating at the initial announcements have been done to death now and on a much larger scale and to a better standard. Only nostalgia for the orginal TFC keeps me interested.

The reality of it all is that TF2 will most likely be more like TFC than TF. And as we all know, TFC sucked compared to TF. They can't make another TF game similar to TF1 without the speed and physics that were present in Quake1. You slow down the game, you slow down what made TF awesome.
