I am using two 2.5" Seagate HDs + aluminum case on the PC's USB 3.0 port. I opened Crystal DiskInfo and both are in good health, but I tried to do a complete scan for errors on the HD using SeaTools. The scan aborts at 3% and the drives disconnect from my computer. Crystal Disk Info and SeaTools then remove the USB cable and plug it in again and everything works again. What could be causing this bug in SeaTools?

I've had a similar issue with my setup before. It sounds like it could be a power problem with the USB port. Sometimes, the USB port doesn't provide enough power for multiple drives, especially if they're older or if the case isn't handling the power well. I’d recommend trying a powered USB hub or connecting the drives directly to the motherboard. Also, make sure your USB cables are snug and not worn out. That helped me get past the disconnection issue.

My HDD is a Seagate ST500LM030 2.5"
My enclosure case is USB 3.0 and I connected it to the USB 3.0 port. It works normally until I start a scan with Seatools. The scan is aborted and the HDD is disconnected from Seatools, my computer, Crystal DiskInfo, etc.

It is very complicated to use the USB port on the back of the PC case. The USB 3.0 original cable is very short. The PC case is under the table. In front of the PC case, there is 1 USB 3.0 port and two USB 2.0 ports.

Does your usb3 case have a separate power adapter? Are your 2.5" drives mechanical (HDD) or solid state (SSD)? If they are HDD the drives draw too much power from a USB port. You need a case with it's own power adapter.

Do not have Crystal Disk Info running while you run another utility that tries to get direct (or exclusive) access to a disk. Close out Crystal Disk Info and try again.
