Doubt about Power Plugs core2duo mobos

Hi guys, i have a small doubt. I have bought a msi p6n Platinum mobo (nvidia 650i chipset) and a E6600.

I see that the mobo has a 24 power plug (which I connect) and a 8 pin power plug. The 8 pin power plug has 4 of them with a plastic cover like telling me "connect me only if...".

Well, the doubt is if i must connect 24 + 8 or 24 + 4. BTW I have only tested 24 + 4, I'd like to know when do I must remove that plastic cover and connect those 8 pins... Can you help me?

Thanks!!!

I think they cover those so people who don't have the 8 pin connector don't freak out. If you have just 4 pins that works too.

lol, may be! I have looked for it at the manual and they do not cover this doubt... someone can be more specific? thanks
