doubling up fans: does it help????

just a thought......i mean lets say 2x80mm sunon intakes: one in front of the other, literally "screwed" together......would is help the airflow any? do people do this? 🙂

hmmmmmmmmm..............well ill give it a try with my current fans and see what happens.....meanwhile, anyone have any other ideas? 🙂

don't think it works. you have two identical fans, both blowing the same... soo.. if you have one blowing into the back of another, it just goes thru, not any faster because they both are at the same speed. If they're at different speeds, you would at best get the airflow of the max one.

now, you could duct two of them together, allowing a smaller loss of cool air (assuming you're brining in cool air). But that's somethin else.

never done it, but i'll answer for you.

yes it works better than one fan, but understand the basic principles behind it. it's not very effecient.

think of the fan, just a multibladed propeller. ok... now what most people don't know is that the most efficient propeller is 1 with 1 blade! YES ONE!!!

why might you ask??? simple, b/c that 1 blade never travels through disrupted air, where-as the more blades you have, the less effiecient it will be.

altho it will move more air if you're looking for more air, it is still not as efficient.

(and some people say r/c flying is useless <g>)

btw a good way to think of this would be going through the first fan, the air getting sepperated somewhat(think about it... it's getting shoved backwards fast!)what that means is that their is less air for the blades in the next unit to push, for it's bypassing the blades (kinda, not in all actuallity, but for the purposee of an example <g>)

=======|= = = = | = = = =

air blade air blade air

excuse the drawing... it sucks i know =(

I am currently running Dual Stacked exhaust Fans, and yes it does push out a slight bit more air than a single fan. The air is more presurized coming out, which is great if the air has to pass through a grill or some other obstruction

no it has to be more than slightly better cause you get a lot more noise........guess ill stick with my regular setup.......🙂 thx

forget about all this fan buissines just crank that cpu of your up and if the temps get higher then 50c then worry about it.

lol ill crank it once i get my alpha........right now im stuck with a coolermaster piece of s***
also, i have to redo the pencil work, and if i do it now the thermal adhesive will get dirty and i dont have any more right now so ill wait til my alpha gets here 🙂
