I am building a computer for my brother. We are finalizing the parts list now.
The end specs will be something like this:
$300 dual core processor
dfi nforce4 ultra motherboard
2 gigs of ram
7800GT
Everything else is standard stuff and is being scavenged from his older computer.
He uses his computer about 60 percent for schoolwork and graphical design style photoshop work, 30 percent for video and TV, and 10 percent for gaming.
I am wondering if the extra mb of L2 cache of the 165 is worth losing .2 ghz clock speed of the 3800. Which is better if I don't overclock at all and which is better if I do a mild overclock? Does the fact that I will be using value ram change your answer?
