Double Standards?

I've seen the mods actually *delete* threads for less than this. I'm getting the impression that double-standards exist here. Am I wrong?

Another conspiracy theorist.

The mods are human and when one makes a judgement call, it's not necessarily the same judgement call another would make. They try to stay in sync, but since everybody is different, sometimes the ideal in not quite met.

Also, the mods are busy. They may not have caught that thread yet.

Relax. :)

<Edit> It might be helpful to tell the mod exactly what to look for, so they don't have to wade through pages of thread to find what you're referring to. ;)

Red Dawn--agreed, I hate whiners too. Don't let the door hit your ass on the way out. :)

I'm personally not offended by the topic or any of the content. I often have to double-check my own standards when I post because I know there are a lot of the under-18 crowd here.

I just find it amusing that a topic such as "urinating in the shower" isn't usually locked, but rather deleted within minutes. Then a thread that contains:

1) Ass shaving
2) Squat toilets/Hovering
3) Prostate exams
4) Crapping in underwear
5) Ass wiping & techniques

is allowed to persist. I find the material amusing, but am wondering where the lines of vulgarity are drawn around here.

Thanks for your input Azrael.

Like I said, I found it amusing too. Then again, topics like this don't make the board look very good from a visitors point of view. I can see both sides.

BTW, got a p!ssy response from the moderator for even questioning the boundaries. Seems I inadvertantly stepped on his/her toes. So...where's the thread on how to make the mods feel all happy, cheery, and emotionally secure? Ahhhh, never mind. It would be a futile effort.

Oh, you're the reason my thread got deleted. <sniff><sniff> :(

I was kind of proud of that thread -- it inadvertently grew into my first "over 100 reponse" thread and contained some of the funniest material I've read in a long time (funny and interesting because all of the people seemed to be responding honestly). I learned a lot of things in that thread. There was nothing in it that couldn't be seen/heard in a PG-13 rated movie like "The Nutty Professor".

Because of that thread, if I ever get married, I'll probably be a little less self conscious if my wife offers to do my laundrey...:)

The way I think is that on Anandtech I expect to have unbiased reviews and articles on their site so I can make up my own mind on whatever the subject may be. But, if Anandtech allows its' mods to have double standards on what to delete or lock then it brings in to question the unbiasedness(word doesn't exist) of the site as a whole. If they have double standards on what they allow people to post then there must be bias allowed in Anantech reviews also. Who do mods answer to at Anandtech and are they reviewed on their objectiveness?
