Double major with one more year or graduate early?

I am a junior right now, I can graduate with a BS in Econ next year after Fall quarter.
Or I can double major with Statistic for I think an extra year, if I packed everything right.
The question, is statistic worth an extra year at school?
Or should I start finding internships or a real job.
We are talking about the U of Washington by the way.

But will a double major give me a better chance in getting a better grad school?
I've been taking a couple econometric classes and really interested in it.
I can't study finance because I can't get into the business undergrad program here.
Actually, if i graduate early, I can probably still fit a statistic minor under my belt,
but really doubt it's usefulness.

if you like school, go to grad school. that extra year and major won't mean much.

btw, can anybody else read his sig besides me?

so, you're asking if you should graduate in Fall 2005, or Fall 2006? (am I reading this right?)

If I was a future employer, I'd be more impressed with someone who had the determination and time management skils to graduate early (with an Econ degree, which isn't the easiest degree), than with someone who was like "look at me I have more schooling!!!."

Both have their upsides, but to an extent, everything that you'd need to know at a future job can be learned on the job. Employers want to hire people who can learn quickly, not necessarily the people with the most pieces of paper.

Just my $.02

I'd go with the minor then or just the major alone. It's more important to excel at what you do, impress your professors (who write your recommendations), and show the ability to work to get into grad school.

Have you done an internship yet? If you haven't, get the second major and do an internship.

The problem with statistic major is that a lot of the classes are sequential order, so I had to spread them out. So I would not be actually taking for load for an extra year, I would take 1 or 2 classes per quarter. If I could find time to fit my school schedule with a better part time job (currently a tutor, job starting to suck), it would be grand.

I guess I will just graduate early with a statistic minor then. I am doing fairly well in the Econ department, department GPA is 3.51.
I really couldn't find any internships for summer because the ones I've come across only look at seniors who are graduating. Plus I was planning to hardcore it out and try to double major in 4 years.

I grad last may w/ ug in Comp Eng and finished my masters during the 4th year. Im about 15K happier than most of my other friends.
