Double Icons on desktop appear??? (need guys with towels on their heads...)

WTF!!! I built a puter not long ago and recently it decided to put double icons on the desktop when you create a short cut for something... Then if you delete one and reboot the one you did not deleted is gone??? Winblows must be on crack??? BTW its Win98SE on a 750 Duron system Anyone know of this problem??? Freaky stuff...
