Sony Double-D and Sanyo HD-B

Are these two different marketing terms for the same technology? (Copying twice as much data on a 80MB cd =160MB cd = DVD)

*edit* From what it seems, Sony's technology only works with special Sony Double Density cd's, whereas Sanyo's (and partners) HD-burn drives works with regular CD-RW's and the format will soon after be applied to blank DVD's... am I right?

You're right, but it doesn't really matter; both methods suck from a technological standpoint.
