Double Click goes to explore

I just installed a 300GB external hard drive. Now, when I double click on either C or E drive in My Computer, it goes to search instead of opening the drive like it used to. Not really a big issue, just wondering why?

No, just double clicking as usual. Also, when I right click, explore is first option...not open as before.

did the drive come with software ?
look for an update or a patch
or try uninstalling the software.

or you could export a registry key of a good directory and drive \shell and import it.

I have seen another computer at work that does this, the default action is search for double clicking. You can tell because when you right-click, search is at top and is in bold. I don't know how to change this, though I'm sure x-setup can.

Not that big of a deal I guess. My wife's PC opens when double clicking (XP Home also). Only driver software for USB support came with the external HD. Just seems odd to me that it just started doing this...but maybe it's just finally starting to work correctly 🙂
