My friend needs a full system, not including OS, keyboard, mouse, or speakers. Budget is $800. Will be used for the everyday college stuff and probably some light gaming.

Any thoughts on the build? Only thing I'm a little unsure about the the PSU.

Motherboard- GIGABYTE GA-P35-DS3L $94.99 Link
RAM- OCZ Platinum Revision 2 2GB (2 x 1GB) DDR2 800 $101.99 - $40 MIR Link
CPU- E6550 $178.99 Link
Case- COOLER MASTER Centurion 5 $49.99 - $10 MIR Link
PSU- Thermaltake TR2 W0070RUC ATX 430W $39.99 - $15 MIR Link
Hard drive- WD Caviar SE16 400GB 7200 RPM 16MB Cache SATA150 $69.99 Link
Optical- PHILIPS 2-Tone 20X DVD+R DVD Burner $32.99 Link
Video Card- EVGA GeForce 8600GT 256MB 128-bit $114.99 - $15 MIR Link
Monitor- SCEPTRE X20WG-1080P Black 20.1" 5ms(GTG) DVI 300 cd/m2 1000:1 $179.99 - $30 MIR Link
Total $863.91 - $110 MIR = 753.91 + shipping

That 7900GS is a hell of a deal. I saw that PSU, the trick will just be getting her to order these parts today.

She only has to order the PSU today, videocard can still be ordered 2morrow. Btw, the 620hx is selling for 89$, if she wants something with a 5 year warranty and last several builds that 'could' be an option too. To bad the rebates on the earthwatts 430w and the antec sonata III ended. 100$ for case + antec earthwatts 500w was pretty neat too.

She's surrounded by us geeks who'll take care of her and the system. Not going to OC, and not going to mess with anything once it's set up and stable.

This build is replacing a laptop. Turns out she didn't actually ever take it anywhere.

Do you get favors in return?

I know I shouldn't have mentioned the build was for a female :p

yea but you're the one thats going to be getting the annoying calls when she has a problem and you're the one whos going to have to go over there to fix it. my 2 cents. here is where a nice HP laptop would do.
