In Jon Carroll's column in todays SF Chronicle he declares it's his birthday, and made a vow that (if he remembered) he'd write a column about the milestone, just as Herb Caen did. So, what's that number?

boxcars = a pair of 6's
Either they guy does not know english, dice, is going to be 24, or thinks he is going to live to 132.
I think he is referring to a 66th birthday myself.

Likely. He addressed a class I was in at Vista Community College (now Berkeley City College) some years ago.

Baby, that's the first pair of dice I've set eyes in in a looooooooooooooong time. Haven't stepped into a casino since I became eligible to gamble, actually. Double nickels? Hmm. :\ I'm stumped. What?????

Edit: Ah, with some help from my search engine (where would I be without them?), I'm deducing 55.

Yeah well, boxcars are 6's on a pair of dice, so double boxcars is just confusing.
rolling boxcars twice in a row is a freight train and it would be a "freight train from hell" if you are looking for low rolls.
