Howdy,

I recently put a new rig together (some new, some old parts):

i7 960
Asus P6X58D Premium motherboard
BFG Nvidia 280 GTX
Thermaltake W0319RU 850W ATX 12V 2.2 SLI PSU
6x OCZ OCZ3G16004GK (12gb)
2x Hard Drives
1x Patriot SSD

Windows 7 x64 Home Premium

And under load while playing games, I'm hearing a *double beep* noise through the onboard soundcard to my headphones every 15 seconds or so that will just keep reoccuring. I am guessing that it is coming from the motherboard itself but I am not 100% sure on this (mabey its from Windows 7?? I havent had a chance to load another OS on it to confirm its from the mobo). It seems to start happening when i reach 25%+ total CPU utilization, using realtemp within windows7 the CPU never is getting very high (around 45-50c) , the GPU is usually around 60c. If I restart and immediately go into the bios after hearing the beeps the CPU temp in the bios is typically pretty low (30-40c) and is giving me realtime information on the fanspeeds (though, im only using 2 of the 5 mobo fan power connectors)

Any thoughts on what else I should look for? outside of the beep noises, the computer seems to run excellent

Thanks for any ideas

It could still be a thermal alert from the motherboard when it's under load. In the CMOS, under PC Health, check the setting for the temperature at which it sounds an alarm. If it's close to the max temp you know you're hitting, you can set it to trigger at a higher temp. You want it to warn you when the temp is going out of bounds, not when it's getting close to the max temp you want to allow.

If think you could be getting temp spikes under load, you may want to re-install your heatsink/fan with a VERY thin coating of Arctic Silver 5 or invest in a better HS/F.

Hope that helps. :)
