I noticed that in DOSBox-X, when playing Duke Nukem 3D: Atomic Edition that the CPU cycles are reported lower in the the menu than in the actual gameplay. For example in the menu the CPU cycles are between 400,000 to 600,000 but the actual gameplay the cycle are between 1,200,000 to 1,500,000. This is with CPU cycle set to auto or max. Are the menus, where there is no action going on, really that much more CPU demanding that the actual gameplay? I tried it with a fixed CPU cycles of 800,000, which is way below the cycles that will be reached during actual gameplay with my CPU, a Ryzen 7800X3D, but then the sound gets stuttery and in slow motion when going from the menu, to the beginning of the 1st level. Should it be the other way around, where the menus are less CPU demanding than the actual gameplay in emulation?
