DOSBox vs. DOSBox SVN

SVN builds contain features and fixes that don't show up in the stock 0.74 build.

Considering that the main DOSBox version hasn't been updated in 5 years or so, some people would recommend the SVN builds for newer features and improvements that you can't get in the stock build.

Alternately, if new features aren't needed, dev builds could add instability for no gain. I pretty much always stick with "official" stable builds, and upgrade only if I need something that isn't in stable.

And in that regard, I would agree. When it comes to DOSBox, however, I rarely touch the stock build unless there's a compatibility issue with a DOS game that pops up in the SVN builds. Mainly error throws or sound inaccuracies from time to time. However, the SVN builds have features like: 3dfx emulation, newer render outputs, better OPL3 and GUS emulation, built-in MT-32 emulation, and a couple of others that I just don't bother with the stock build anymore.

Granted, that's not going to apply to every program/emulator out there.
