Dos 6.22 : How large is limit of HDD Partition?

I got an old set of 6.22 DOS on Floppies, and intend to install it on an old computer(of which I have several). What I'd like to know is what is the upper limit of HDD space?I've heard 2 GB., 1 GB., etc..... in other words, nobody knows, or remembers!

I'd appreciate a knowledgeable reply.

I know FAT16 will go up to 2G, but I thought DOS 6.22 had problems with drives over 504M. Maybe it was just a BIOS thing from that timeframe...

I'm pretty sure DOS 6.22 can do 2G partitions, but if the machine is old enough, the BIOS may only support 540Meg. If that's the case, a third-party IDE card should work.

Good Luck

Scott
