1st book in series was written in 1959. Latest book was 1988. Author died before he completed the last book in the series. I own and read the 1st book. bought the last book when it first came out but lost it. just checked to see what finally happened. oh well, so much for the multipart movie sega.

anyway.. geez.. 30yrs to write a series?

imagine if each Lord of the Rings book came out one a decade. oh wait...
 
The Dark Tower series took an ungodly long time for King to finish.

7 books though so not as bad I suppose.

Worth the wait.

Then again, I read the whole series last summer, back to back.
