Recently alot of people living on my side of the dorm had money stolen... I had $80 stolen thourgh out the semester, we're all certian of who did, but lack the proof. 2 guys caught him peeping under the shower. apparently this theif looks under shower stalls and see whos in it, and during that time, he'll go into your room and steal money. I caught him one time, wondering into my room with out knocking, he acted dumb... like he just wanted to say hi.

this is serious messed up... im outragged not only by the fact that he steals money that he peeps other guys in the shower... none of the dorm residents have any direct proof of him stealing.

let this be a caution to all you college kids out there lock ur door when u use the bathroom, and stay alert...


at times like this, I wish i had a mafia unkle... cuz hes ass would be in a meat grinder right now...
 
If you know who's doing it with certainty but can't prove it the legal route maybe it's time to invite him to a blaket party. 😉
 
Weird.
I seem to recall in my college days (last year) we had these things called "locks" that you had to have a "key" to open the door.
I often would use the "lock" when I was in the shower or at class. Surprisingly, I never had anything stolen from my room.
The only time I didn't use the "lock" was when my roommate was in the room.
Is your roommate the thief?

Sorry for the snide nature of my post, but at a glance, this problem is apparently quite easy to fix.

Anyway, one way to catch him might be to set him up. Have one person hide out in a room with a camera, then have the resident go take a shower.
When he comes in, *SNAP*


 
Maybe you could obtain a dye bomb from a bank and stash it in a drawer with $30 or so. The thief won't be too hard to pick out after that thing goes off....just look for the blue guy.😉

I second the webcam idea....put a few bucks in a conspicuous place, set up the cam, and go take a shower.

this guy lives on the other side of the dorm, and he uses our side of the hall's bathroom to peep his potential targets. its not my roommate.

Do the webcam at the door... he'll be expelled from the university for conduct unbecomming a student or at least removed from all dorm life permanently. File charges and the whole deal.. rash of theft can add up quickly.

If all that's too permanent, just make lots of copies of the pic and spread around campus and beat him the hell up.



While locks work great at preventing this sort of thing, the dorm theif takes advantage of the community-like setting, 1st time away from parents house on own, and open front-door policy common to many dorms during the week day. How many people lock their doors when they go to check the mailbox? change laundry machines in the laundry room of an apartment? I myself have decided a few times that it's not worth the hassle of fumbling with a laundry basket and a crappy 20 year old lock in the door.
 
Crime prevention for the lock impaired

1. put it in the top drawer of your desk...
2. leave some on your dresser...
3. sprinkle some around your CD collection...
4. scatter some around on the bed...

Obviously, the thief is an assbite. Nevertheless, from the info you have given, it sounds like your own damn fault.

Lock the door and put your wallet away when you leave the room...

common sense, people!

Yes... locks... They are mysterious and powerful devices, and their mystery is only exceeded by their power....

Like everyone else has said, lock the door when you leave. My suggestions for taking the key with you are: 1.) get some sort of string or key holder and hang the key around your neck while you're in the shower; 2.) if you don't already have one, get a shower tote to carry your soap, shampoo, etc. in and put the key in that. A little water shouldn't hurt your key. Get your roommate to do the same thing and just make sure you leave your door locked whenever you leave, even if you're just going down the hall to talk to a friend for 5 minutes.
