I was wondering that too, and how exactly do you even pack a chip? I don't think the usual bubble wrap, styrofoam popcorn will do much.

get a long sheet of cottonwool, make an orb around the chip without it doing more than letting the chip rest on it.......then feed chickenwire lengths thru the cotton wool so that it makes 2 X's, but doesnt go near the chip, then hook the ends of the X's into the cardboard of a box that has approx 6in clearance to the wool, then pack scrunched newspaper around that box approx 6in thick worth, then put that inside a wooden tea chest crate, then put rubber strip surrounds on the edges and corners that are approx 1in thick hard rubber and 1in thick soft rubber over that.

if it breaks from all that i'll be bloody surprised!..lol

Ditto. Man, I really need to "cash in" on this misshapen food ebay craze thing. I used to save the various "mistake" animal crackers that I found, strange combinations of un-natural looking animals, animals that looked like they were, erm, "doing it", etc.

There's apparently enough "crazies" out on the market with money, that this could be worthwhile doing, I guess. Did this all start with that ancient cheese sandwich, or were there some earlier examples? What's the best way to preserve food items for turning them into long-term collectables?
