They without warning, between the cart and pressing "place order", INCREASED the cost of my order, silently, by eleven cents. Which was enough to cause the charge to not go through on my debit card.

Methink my state dept. of Weight and Measures would like to talk to their people about the code for their check-out.

When they over-charge (scan) at a grocery store, the item is FREE. Just saying.

Eleven cents put you over your limit?

Perhaps budget better?

Maybe never spend to within a few hundred dollars of your limit?

Maybe something had to refresh and got updated. Most order pages won't update certain fields until you click outside the box you just filled in.

I've had mostly good experiences ordering through DoorDash actually.

Grubhub/Seamless and Uber-Eats OTOH can both DIAF.

Did they add a charge for a plastic bag or something? Local sales tax?
Sounds like it could be a fee for two bags and tax on the bag fee.
I redeemed a free sub at Jersey Mikes recently, and had to pay eight cents for a paper bag and one cent of tax.

That said, I'd never order anything online with a debit card.

VL should switch out his preference for junk food for something still sweet but less junky...
Microwaved sweet potatoes for one month and nothing else.

Question is: How to spike your blood-sugar perpetually for a month? :p

This would be healthier then filling up on ice cream and candy every day but only a little bit!

EDIT: Also how do you know VL didn't order chicken & broccoli or something else healthy? (I see no mention of what he ordered in the OP)

I hope he did, but I think the odds are probably stacked against it :(

If a restaurant is serving up only chicken and broccoli...it's going to be a dinky serving to land on Doordash. Probably fried in nasty, worn out vegetable oil. There's something rice or noodles coming with it. It's the Panda Express formula.

Sweet potatoes are still better than candy and coke. Diversity of rare micros like manganese and copper, a plethora of pre-vitamin A carotenoids, plus the satiating effect of fiber, make it a decent substitute to downing empty calories.

Given his recent activity, he still has trouble mentally, which would mean his physical weight remains a problem.

I will say that non-Asians are actually far more durable against diabetes. Takes them a while to gain weight to actually then activate metabolic syndrome and then prediabetes. My sis looks alright, not fat, but her A1C is 5.7.

I have quite a few restaurants around me that offer roasted vegetables as part of their sides option. One is always roasted broccoli and cauliflower, probably two servings worth. Just because your experience is you'll only get it "asian-fied" doesn't mean it's the absolute.

Most people can't tolerate more than a couple servings of vegetables anyways - their insides explode from the amount of hard to digest fiber.

Never had diarrhea. The Beefy 5-Layer Burrito was good stuff. I just need to recreate it at home without a tortilla wrapper. :p

There's a new Mexican place here, I decided to go with the "hot" option for everything when ordering a burrito. I normally do fine with hot stuff, but this was not the typical mediocre hot you get at most places, this was REAL hot. Burning going in, and an hour later, burning going out.

There are actually two tortillas in a beefy five layer! It was always one of my favorites there (minus the refried beans). The beefy crunch burrito will forever be the king though (RIP).

Is there any benefit to ordering delivery like doordash in terms of bonuses/rewards over time? I always just saw it as a lazy way to get food, but if there's benefits...

Even if there were, I wouldn't think it would outpace the cost of DoorDash and the tip in and of itself.

Not really, it's just a way to avoid putting on pants that day if you're a remote worker (and don't feel like cooking).

Say I order a Big Mac and fries, which comes out to like $8. What would it actually cost to get to me, all in?

I frequently only do deals which I could get 2 for $6 Big Macs which has some built-in savings to allow me to pay doordash if it comes to it.
