You know the guys, they show up and are selling steaks a box of steaks. Each box has like 6 trays, each tray having different steaks. One tray is hamburger, one is T-bone etc etc.
Whats a good price on those boxes? Guy showed up tonight with all the normal advertising speel, and the price was $369 a box (list) but he was trying to get rid of his inventory so would cut a deal.
Anyways, what ARE those boxes really worth? Anyone know?

oh heck, I get them all the time. Just hanging out in my garage or mowing the lawn. Sometimes at the door. They all look kinda shady to me, like "white van speaker" guys.

one of my classmates in college did that... he made a lot of money from it too (~$500/night)... tells you something about how much your paying.

he said they pick it up from the place and pay for it up front. whatever they make over is profit.

i didnt catch all that. He said something like $250 but I think that was for a truckload of lord knows how many. I may be wrong... that was back in college.

edit: are you talking about the guys that drive the steak "trucks" or the guys that drive their own trucks.

I saw a report on them on 60 minutes one night. Most of the time the meat thaws out and they re-freeze it. I would not buy from them.

How do you know he didn't use the meat to wipe his ass?

He may very well have.
But if he did, he's got one hell of a professional vacuum sealer!

Just wait for Omaha Steaks to have a good deal...my roommate and I last summer filled our freezer (literally) with filet mignons, new york strips, hamburgers, hotdogs, fish, and potatoes au gratin for about $70. I don't think we necessarily saved money over buying it at the grocery store, but we were in Albuquerque, and the beef just doesn't taste the same down there. Corn fed > grass fed.
