" Doomsday machine" (remastered) airs today

Is this done by Paramount or is this the fan made cgi? I saw the fan based one at a Sci-fi convention I work for. I guess I will have to tune in to find out.

This was done by paramount, they clipped out one of the best scenes IMO, when Spock
tells decker " Vulcans never bluff" otherwise it was great. Runs one more time in sept.

What channel? Oh, didn't even see the little "link" there in the OP.😱
I didn't know they were remastering TOS episodes.

I'd love them to redo some of the Dominion War effects sequences in DS9. I was disappointed that they used so much stock footage in the last two episodes. Come on, it's the grand finale, people!

Its on tonight here.

Looks good, although I am really torn on messing with the original series. What made it so good was how good it looked with the limited effects they had.

Oh, lol, I thought you were talking about Dr. Strangelove

Dr. Strangelove is an awesome movie but because it's a B+W film most of this generation
will miss it, what a pity....

Another one of my favorite episodes. That little guy is just so creepy.

They got him for the William Shatner roast a few months ago, put him in the same
set saying " greetings! since you saw me last I've been drinking tranya, LOTS of
tranya but unlike you bill shatner I admit I've got a drinking problem, A-HA-HA-HA!"

Ya know, the more movies I watch, the more I realize that I tend to prefer low-quality FX. When you don't have advanced computer graphics, you have to have good filmmaking if you want your picture to be worth anything. I'm tempted by the news of these remasters, but I remember what happened when George Lucas had the same bright idea.

Though I wish I could forget.

It's not like Monty Python is less funny because their visual effects are so crude. And it's not like the bang-zoom movies we have these days are actually better than, say, Star Wars, The Ten Commandments, 2001, or any other big-budget SFX-heavy movie from the past. Ultimately, advanced visual effects are irrelevant to almost any production (LOTR being a notable exception).

It honestly makes me more sad than excited to see this.

The local Fox station is airing TOS. They are editing out some of the scenes... too bad. I'd rather see the entire episode than new graphics.

Are the cuts being done as part of the remastering process or are the cuts being done by local stations because of the difference in the commercial times in 1968 vs 2007? If it is the local stations then there is hope the episodes will be intact when/if the remasters are released on DVD.
