I just figured that i would post my quick little benchmark of Doom3 from my previous system to my current system setup.

Maybe it can help some of you guys out there that are thinking about upgrading to/from an simlar system.

On both systems I used the Retail 1.0 version of Doom3 /timedemo demo1
I ran each test three times taking the average from the last two results.
Everything is running stock, no OCing on anything.

AMD XP System

AMD 2600+ XP (266fsb)
1024mb PC2100 DDR
eVGA Geforce 6800GT (6.14.10.6693)
WindowsXPsp2

Ultra Quality No AA_____46.3fps
High Quality No AA_____46.9fps
Medium Quality No AA__46.9fps

AMD 64 System

AMD 3200+ 64 (400fsb)
1024mb PC3200 DC DDR
eVGA Geforce 6800GT (6.14.10.6693)
WindowsXPsp2

Ultra Quality No AA_____82.5fps (78.2% increase!)
High Quality No AA_____86.3fps (84.0% increase!)
Medium Quality No AA__86.2fps (83.8% increase!)

High Quality AA 4x_____82.1fps (i didnt run any tests on my XP with AA on.)

I figured that the numbers would increase a little, but i am Very happy with these results!

I hope that this is useful to someone :)

Wow! I actually have a setup very similar to your old one (except with a Barton 2600+) and am amazed at how much difference there is there. Have you tried any other games?

That's good for those asking is it worth it.

I never benched, but i felt a huge difference going from my 2500+ to my s754 A64 3200+ too.

Here is another quick benchmark i did with Unreal Tournament 2004.
Just as a note: All quality settings in UT04 where the same on both systems.
The ONLY difference was that the AMD 2600+ XP was using UT04 w/ 3323 patch, and the 3200+ 64 was running UT04 w/ 3339 patch.
Im guessing that, that wouldnt make a difference but just figured i would mention it.

This is the Demo i used.

This is the Article from which the demo came from: NVnews article: Benchmarking UT04

Here was the game setup:

Render: Direct 3d

Resolution 1280*960

Texture Detail: Highest
Character Detail: High
World Detail: High
Physics Detail: High
Dynamic Mesh LOD: Normal
Decal Stay: Normal
Character Shadows: Full

everything eles is Checked (On)
Decals, Dynamic Lighting..... etc
Fog Distance: Full

Antialiasing 4x
Anisotropic 8x

2600+XP = ons_dria = 28.93

3200+64 = ons_dria = 42.86 (48.2% increase)
