Doom STILL kicks ass.

For some reason, I had an urge to play through the entire Doom series (1-3, Ultimate, Doom II, Plutonia, TNT) hit me.

I've just been tearing through them on Ultra-Violence, slaughtering demons like there's no tomorrow.

And I'm enjoying myself a hell of a lot more than I have with most recent games.

i don't like how doom moves forward when you push forward with the mouse. Did you play with that on? I dunno how I dealt with it back then. But with Doom Legacy you can change that.

I remember how excited I got when I first played Wolfenstein.. then I played Doom.. and was completely amazed.. Then, Cybermage.. and I was engulfed..

Then, Doom 2, Duke 3d, Quake, Blood, ShadowWarrior, Jedi Knight, Quake2, Half Life, Blood 2, Unreal Tournament, Star Trek: Elite Forces, Quake 3, Deus Ex, Max Payne, Unreal 2k3, Unreal 2... with countless I am failing to remember...

I don't get nearly excited with a new game as I used to.. It seems for every new fps game I play, I have already played one that is better in a way.

I want INTERACTIVE ENVIRONMENTS. I don't care if the 3d model of a couch in a room is good if I can't pick the damn thing up or chop it in half with my sword. Seriously, with today's technology, it should be possible to break through walls and alter environments more. The first game that truly seemed interactive was ShadowWarrior.. then Half Life, Deus Ex, Max Payne..

lol, sometimes I wish they would just make a new 2d Nintendo game like Mario. I had more fun playing many of those games than I did playing games like Quake 3.

Yeah, but not to the extent a good sourcemod will allow. :)

Legacy 1.40 OGL, all the "eye candy" on, some AF and AA too ;) Classic WASD+mouse controls, even functional mousewheel weapon toggle. "I Can't Believe It's Not Quake!"

Any other good stuff? I didn't know about Cybermage, but it being abandonware and all, I was able to find it on the net eventually...

While it's bumped, I just thrashed through Doom II. That is so much harder than any of the first Doom episodes.

At this rate, I expect to get thoroughly owned about halfway through Plutonia.

Doom will be forever remembered as "THE GAME". I play it on my dreamcast all the time :)

Man I remember playing Doom before I realized how much better gaming is with a mouse.

Also, has anyone tried the Nintendo64 version of Doom? I rented it once and I enjoyed it quite a bit. It's an entirely different Doom, but I enjoyed it quite a bit.
