Doom - running slow - why?

Hello everyone,

I just bought R9 380 4GB yesterday specially for DOOM
But sadly, its running slow.... i turned every thing off/low without performance/fps increase.., weird..

My reg:
Intel i7 2600k Oced @ 4Ghz
Memory: 8GB 1333Mhz
GPU:R9 380

my hard disk was at 100% most of the time, could it be the hard disk that is slowing the game?

Thanks

The ID engine hates AMD graphic cards, its probably better to wait for a driver to come out, or just wait until its out of beta.

Thanks,
God i feel stupid paying for this card to play this game only...
I have ps4 and xone, downloading the game to check how well it run compared to my pc 🙁 god, i was a pc guy, seems pc is really dead, very expensive compared to consoles....

Well its still in beta and turning all settings down giving no performance boost is definitely a bug.

I would wait until an AMD driver for DOOM is out, that will help a lot in regards to FPS.

I think its also a load issue with slower hard disks, the ID engine uses texture streaming for mega textures which really puts a burden on regular drives. In Wolfenstien New Order you could make a cache file that reduces some of the streaming. Try turning Vsync off, see if that helps too.

Dont ever, ever, EVER purchase hardware just to play a single game.
If you need further evidence just spend a weekend reading posts here in PC Gaming. Theres tons of reasons. Mostly because even if you love the game in question, you'll have buyers remorse over spending all that money on extra junk.

When I bought my Saitech yoke it wasnt just for Flight Simulator X, it was for a few other games that would also benefit, like Wings of Prey and some of those old Janes titles.

I dont purchase a new 3D accelerator until I simply cant play anything new (such was the case when I bought Metro 2033).

I used mice and keyboards until they are falling apart. I go 10 years between new monitors and only then if the resolution AND refresh are significantly better.

As for Doom, its still in Beta, and many times there are some performance glitches still to be fixed right before a game goes retail.

Do you have an SSD, or do you actually have a hard disk?

But also, it is a beta. To find out, run MSI Afterburner, and look at GPU activity. My guess is it will not be at 100%.

I don't agree with this... at least in my case.

I recently got super into Dirt Rally, and my GTX 950 wouldn't push a consistent 60fps with full detail at my monitors 2560x1440 resolution.

I purchased a new R9 390 with the express purpose of having a better Dirt Rally experience. It worked, and I'm loving it.

Furthermore, I bought the 390 just a couple weeks back, and EVERYEONE on the "Video cards and graphics" forum are saying DO NOT BUY A NEW CARD WAIT *N* WEEKS/MONTHS FOR NEWER FASTER STUFF.

I'm enjoying my 390, right now, with a single game.

Of course I'll reap the benefits of this card for other games and future games.

Don't feel stupid. I purchased an r290x last year just to play GTAV.
