Fat chance this will stop people from saying you need to take vaporware into consideration when buying hardware.

I care, I've looked forward to the game ever since it was annouced. I am a bit worried about the D3/HL2 fanboyism that's breaking out though.:Q

I think they said it would be ready in the year 2054. They're making sure that DirectX 25.1 is working properly with it. *snicker*

2003 has always been the earliest they'd get it out. They annouced it at E3 to give people a taste, but this is the first hint of it being even remotely delayed past the original targets.

Isn't it kind of a rule the later a piece of software is, the worse it turns out to be? Diakatana anyone? :)

March 2004. Hrmm... Putting the one and half rule to use, that means the game will come out September 2004.

Had to fix that for ya. And I figure I'll still buy Doom 3 when it comes out, I'll also buy hl2 when it comes out. Delays don't mean much.

an official release date was never announced...the E3 poster this year said 2003, that is all.

I highly doubt they changed anything based on what they saw of HL2 - they are two very different games and will both be excellent.

Half Life 2 WILL be available September 30th, in stores.

eh I'd rather paly doom 2 on a network vs friends anyways...new games suck compared to good ol doom 2...I much rather have only 3/4 buttons to press rather than 360 degrees and an entire combo of keyboard commands to remeber...doom 2 still is and will always be the shiznit :p I'll be running it on my athlon 64 before ever even attempting doom 3 :D

Steve Jobs and Carmack were showing clips back in early 2001, when the Geforce 3 was announced for the Mac.

My issue is with people who get caught in the hype and shell 300 bucks on a video card, based on non-existent games.
