"DOOM will be released in the United States and Canada on Friday, October
21, 2005 (previously August 5, 2005) "

source

Isn't August the month studios push "bombs" out to? They must be getting bad reactions from early test showings.

Any movie buffs here that can comfirm my fears?

September - October is usually the film graveyard.

Last summer was so front loaded and not typical of what the summer release schedule should look like.

They're making a DOOM movie. I think the quality of the film isn't going to be a debate and certainly not over what time it's released.

Halloween maybe?

thats when Saw was released and it went over pretty well IIRC

Halloween is on the 31st not the 21st.

Saw went into wide release on the 29th last year to capitalize on the Halloween weekend.

Also, Saw 2 is slated for release on Oct 28 this year. Doom is getting buried.

Saw TWO?!?!?!? You have GOT to be kidding me. I mean...it was a pretty good movie with a GREAT ending, but I dont see how they could pull that off again

The killer lived and the movie was very profitable so naturally a sequel or 5 will be made.

Just a random number.

The rule is that you keep making sequels until it becomes unprofitable, then you make one more just to be sure.

The Rock is overrated as an actor.

It will have a decent opening weekend because of the cross promotion with WWE, but it will then tank.

I read something about them saying "genetic testing" which is total BS. We'll just have to wait and see.
