If you venture outside the AT forums you will hear about the sound issues with the Soundstorm APU when playing DIII using suround sound speakers. What happens is you get a crackling and (seems like a frame rate hit) from the rear speakers. Also eventually the sound just gives out and goes away. Does anyone know how to fix this?

Hi Kevin,

Umm..not sure this qualifies as a "fix", I just used the console to bind a key to restart the sound. Sometimes I need to hit it often, other times hardly at all.

EDIT: The console command to restart sound is: s_restart or type this to bind ot to a key: bind "q" "s_restart"

Well that will restart the sound but it wont fix the crackling from the rear speakers. THanks though, no i will at least be able to solve one problem :)

ok, found it.

Edit doom config file and change the line seta -r maxsoundspershader = "1" instead of "0"

Also make sure you're running the latest BIOS & chipset drivers for system. And sound drivers too.
