Can I buy a monitor for under $400 that will give me a higher resolution than my current monitor (see signature/1080p) so that DOOM will look even better with my current GPU (see signature)...?

Thanks for any suggestions...

Punch everything to max (it runs great on my 970m chip) and if you want more, and want to hurt your GPU, enable DSR for DOOM and run at higher resolutions.

I run Doom on a GTX970 (Asus Strix) on my 4K monitor at 3840x1440 (gives me ultrawide display basically). I set it to Ultra and I get about 40fps.

I imagine if you grabbed a 2560x1440 inside your budget at about 25-27", you'd get one stellar picture and your card would run it very well.

I just tried it again and paid closer attention... I'm generally high 40's low 50's with dips to low 40's and peaks at 60. Overall I'd say the 970 does a decent job at 3840x1440 and would probably be pretty solid at 2560x1440... although probably not solid 60fps.

I can try it if you really want exact numbers :)

Just did some calcs... 2560x1440 at 27" is almost the same DPI as my 40" at 4K (108dpi vs 110dpi).

I should have never given away my 27" 2560x1440 lol. I tried this on a 1920x1200 at 27" and I could tell visually the lesser quality. If I still had my old 2560x1440 it would have looked just as sharp and higher FPS!
