Sometimes after i finish a level, you know how it fades to dark and then its supposed to load the next mission or whatever. Sometimes it just fades black and then crashes to the desktop, with no error messages or anything. Another problem i have is i cant do mid game saves. It will say it saved it but it doesnt, it just starts me off at the very beginning of the level everytime. I dont think the crashes have anything to do with my pc hardware:

Microsoft Windows XP Service Pack 2
AMD Athlon 64 Processor 3200+ 2.2ghz
512mb RAM
Radeon 9800 PRO SE 128mb
directx 9.0c

I listed direct x because im not sure if its causing problems or not since the game comes with 9.0b

Do you use F5 for the quick save? If you do, use F9 for the quick load. That has worked for me. As for your crashing, I can't say. The DirectX might be the prob, but I seriously doubt it. Try reinstalling the game. In your BIOS, there should be a setting for your vid card memory. Make sure this value matches the ammount your card has (128). Also, do a defrag of you HD. It won't hurt. You could always add more RAM.

Run drivercleaner to remove the ATI drivers. Install the Catalyst 4.7's (i know they work cuz ive finished doom 3 on my 9800p with these). Make sure u have the latest chipset drivers. Run scandisk on your hard drive. If these dont work, try looping 3dmark and trying other games out. Also, you could run prime95 to test your proc/memory. If none of this works, reinstall windows. These suggestions should give u some things to try out.

Like i said above, i have a 9800p w/ the catalyst 4.7's and ive completed doom 3 w/o any errors. I also run an AXP @ 2255mhz (3300+) which is the same archetecture once again as to what you have. My guess is your ati drivers arent pure and u need to remove the drivers the proper way w/ drivercleaner and install updated ones.

Im not sure how to come about these drivers and not much of a computer component guru. I went to ATI and could only find a download for these:

Download latest CATALYST? for Windows XP (26MB) - Version 4.8

Download latest CATALYST? for IGP motherboards, Windows XP (29MB) - Version 4.8

I download the first one i listed, right? or should i still go with the 4.7?

How do i go about getting the latest chipset drivers, im not sure what u mean when u say chipset.

Thanks a ton for the help so far though.

You can get the 4.7 CAT's recommended here First remove the current Cat's then use driver cleaner, then install the 4.7's.

The chipset drivers are for your board. You can just go to the manufacturer's website for your board and download the latest drivers for it there.

Hey man, works like a pro now. Only thing, is i cant quicksave at all. I hit f5 and it says gamesaved... on the left side, then i die and it still loads the level from the beginning or if i hit f9 it still continues to load the level from the beginning, its weird. Anybody have any ideas? I even reinstalled the game, didnt help none.

When you go to the load screen does it list your quicksave (it should be there when you go to 'load' from the main menu)? I ususally quicksave while I play, then do another save slot every time I exit the game.
