Doom 3 with 6800 GT

when press the scan hardware tab
the resolution chosen by the scan was weird
800 * 600 was chosen but everything was set at high which should be normal
why am i getting 800 * 600???
benchmarked with 3dmarks03 and my score was over 12000

How is that a problem? Just put it on 1600x1200 and game away...

Because Doom 3's settings picker is conservative as hell. Just set it where you want, and play.

Don't pay attention to scan hardware defaults.
Most of demanding games(far cry included) give similar "proposals" of what your system is capable of.
It's a marketing trick 😉
