Doom 3... what is this item?

So I'm at alpha level 4, where you fight the spider queen. My question is... what is the item that you pick up that makes your heart thump really fast? Some kind of adrenaline item? Anybody know what it does?

BTW, you can find the plasma gun on alpha level 4! 😀 When you jump on the first moving platform, to the right by some pipes there is a tiny passage that leads to the plasma gun. 🙂

i think it gives you the ability to have unlimited run. (default: shift key) it was a ways into the game before i found out i could run.

I found the BFG in the martian buddy lockers. the beserk effect is awesome...and i think the heart beat thing is unlimited sprint for its duration.

Same, I got the chaingun in the mb locker.

There are at least two Martian Buddy lockers. The first one is a chaingun. The second is BFG. I haven't run into a third yet...

Yeah the one I opened was def the second one. I remember seeing the first one but didn't think to go to the website to get the code till i saw the second one.

I saw it, but I also thought that run would be default, and Shift would then put you back to walk. It seemed he moved pretty fast, so I didn't actually press shift until half way through Alpha Labs and I noticed I sped up instead of slowed down. lol

What control setup do you use?

w = sprint
mouse 2 = walk
mouse 1 = fire
f = zoom
d = strafe right
s = bakwards
a = strafe left
space = jump
left shift = crouch
q = reload
weapons = numbers
flashlight = e (on switch with other weapon)

I just saw the Bravo team (I think) use the BFG... WHAT A TEASE! 😀

That was Swann and his bodygaurd.

If you're talking about in the bravo labs in looking through the window to where you can see the room where the spider queen is, there were 3 people in soldier suits when one of them used the BFG... I don't think that was Swann and his bodyguard.

Yeah, definately think it was bravo team because they get ambushed a little ahead of you.

Right around that area, you pick up a PDA of a Sargent in charge of security. He talks about testing out the BFG in his audio log and that he locked it up in his office. I couldn't find that office, ah well.

The office is later on in the game, and the door code is 901 😉 (but you later find out that 0 is not a valid doorcode, replace the 0 with a 3, and you're set, 931 🙂)

Kinda a side note...I guess there is no way to have the flashlight up and still be able to shoot, right? Rather annoying to try to fire in the dark blind 🙂

If it were me, I would have duct tapped that flashlight on the front of my rifle. Ah well 😀

Yea there is no way...kinda sux since they would have nightvision at least by then.

I just hotswitch em or lead enemies back to lighted areas.

You guys are so boring. Why do you always have to see what you are shooting at? Been there, done that. Nothing like shooting at a pair (or 4 pairs) of glowing eyes in the dark! 😀

Definetly a thrill!

There is a duct tape mod available that does just this.

I'm not really having much trouble dealing with the flashlight thing myself. If it's a zombie the chainsaw doesn't need a light to carve it up. If it's something more dangerous then it's always surrounded by the pleasant glow of my plasma rounds.
