Actually Trent Reznor pulled himself out cause it was consuming to much of his time and he wanted to get started on his new album "Bleedthrough"... Carmack & Reznor are BIG fans of each others work...

i started using the soundpack. the only things I notice are the gun sounds. the pistol and shotgun have an echo. Seems kind of strange given the closed environments.

Has anyone experienced this or is it all good to go? I DL'd it but don't want to install it if it's going to hose anything.

I don't believe it has messed up the stereo channels. I don't see how this would screw anything up, just delete the .PAK file (or whatever) once you get sick of it.

I tried it; the new gun sounds were only marginally better, but they didn't seem to equalize them to the same level as the rest of the sound effects, so the new gun noises are about 15% louder.

The new monster sounds are better, though.

I'm playing right now with this mod and the duct-tape mod; made the game a little more fun.

This is just sounds ripped from the leaked alpha and put into a .pk4. They probably don't want it floating around because the sounds weren't intended to be used in the retail release, and with Mr. NIN leaving the project it makes it messy in the sense that sounds which may or may not be his work are still being used.

Doesn't stop the guy that wrote the theme tune that plays on the main menu from passing off Tool's music as his own work

I can't detect any difference from this sound pack - is the difference pretty subtle, or is mine hosed somehow?

EDIT: I unRARed the sound pack to listen to the sounds, and it definitely isn't working - I am hearing the standard sounds, not the Reznor onces. I have pak005.pk4 in my Base folder, so AFAIK it should work. Anyone have any ideas?

Try dragging it in again. Kill an imp and listen to it die to make sure you have the pack installed. If it makes that screeching death noise then you're still using the original sounds.

Managed to play a level and some tonight - new creature sounds are good stuff...pretty much all the sounds in this pack improved the games audio.
