Doom 3 (retail version) really sucks:
1. Too dark, it's all like a big closet with lights turned out.
2. Many places aren't just dark but BLACK, even with Gamma/Brightness up all the way.
3. No MAP feature! Easy to get lost.
4. Low texture quality even at High setting
5. Just nothing special.
6. L-o-a-d t-i-m-e-s are unbelievable l-o-n-g!
7. No armies of monsters. More of a one-on-one combat than you-vs-armies-of-darkness. Where are my 200 Imps!
8. Levels are similar and generic except for some occasional interesting machinery.
9. Monsters melt down unrealistically when killed instead of staying.
10. No advanced video/sound controls. Missing: shadow quality and light halos, dynamic lighting, music, ambient volumes, etc.
11. More of a 3d showcase than a game (I am John Carmack, bow to my 4d photorealistic shadows).
12. IT'S NOT DOOM 2
I enjoyed Doom 1, 2, and Half Life more than this game.. I am not really "drawn" into it. Kinda like Matrix Revolutions, you know? 😉
P.S. 2.66 GHz, 512 MB, Radeon 9800 Pro. ~ 40 fps at 800x600 all max settings (no FSAA or Aniso, though).
