Doom 3 savegames

Well I play it at medium level of difficulty and I'm at the alpha labs 3 level
Is there any way to play it at the most difficult level and continue from this savegame or do I have to go through it again from the start?
Too bored to start all over again

The only other way would be to hack the save game files and change the difficulty level from there.

Can't you get a savegame from someone else and put it into the folder you have for saved games? I haven't tried this myself, but I know when I back up my saves and reinstall windows I can put those saves back on and play from there. I don't know if it can only be done because it's from the same cd-key or what, but it's worth a shot.

Well that's the easy way to do it. If someone has a savegame for that level,well he's welcome to share it with me.
Does anybody know a way to open the savegames of Doom3?

you would need to edit the .save file in an editor.
it will open in wordpad but i dont know that will work correctly or not.

Yeah I know what files to open it's the editor I'm looking for

I'm doing it on hard but the save file is 6.6Mb

Why not start a new game on hard mode, then use the cheats to skip to that level and give yourself the appropriate weapons/ammo/armor?
