18 amps? I would go with 22 or more, but that is my opinion. TT PSU's have done well for me as I have owned one for the last 3 years. Just remember that the PSU is the MOST overlooked component in a modern PC PERIOD! and the PSU is what makes everything WORK!!!

Ok well, I've tried all of your suggestions for doom 3, none of them are working for me so far =(. The ram is running in dual channel 2t is disabled, fast writes is disabled, all AA and AF is disables and i've screwed with every option in doom.

An ironic thing...I think the power supply in MY pc fried the toher night, or at least something did. I got home from school yesterday and my pc didnt start, so I ordered a new PSU..but my old one would boot my brothers POS 766 celeron.....oh well, start with the cheapest component first i guess.

NO NO NO VIGILANTE NO NO NO!!!

First of all, don't choose the X800Pro because you play HL2 more. The 6800GT blows it away, even in HL2.

Secondly, don't get that PSU. Thermaltake makes pretty low PSUs. If you don't want to spend that much money, get an Enermax, great quality PSU for low price. I got a 470w for 70 bucks.

well it's too late for the psu deal, i ordered one already. I've read reviews for that psu and my friends got one with tons of stuff and an x800 hooked up to it and it works great. I was thinking of going with a BFG 6800OC then unlocking the other 4 pipes. But my problem now is I dont know if my PSU was my problem, beccause the one I thought fried would boot my brothers PC (celeron 766) but not mine, which leads me to believe my mobo or proc is bad..but wtf? I was using it the night before whatever it was fried and it was running fine. I hate computers sometimes. The new psu should be here xmas eve.

I've heard that thermaltake makes great psus also.

BTW, and x800 pro does do better in hl2
