Most of the news focuses around it coming out for the XBox once it is finished for the PC. The part that caught my interest was this:
id expressed hope that the game would be done before next year's E3 in May
Humm. So does that mean that it would just be showing at E3? Or that it would actually be on shelves for purchase? Hopefully we won't have to wait too long. I was expecting Summer 03 or Holiday 03. If they could do May or so that would r0x!

Woo! Hopefully the next-gen of Nvidia cards won't cost $500 and be prohibitively expensive. Still running on a GF2 MX 400 here :p

Don't rush to buy now if you are planning on playing Doom 3. By then the R300 will be affordable, and the next-gen nVidia part should be out as well.

Was that do you know how much these are gonna be?

Like where your voice gets higher at the end since it's $400. Or were you really asking?

I was really asking, and yes my voice did get higher once I saw the $400.

SWEET! I was honestly expecting holiday 2003. May 2003? droooooooooooooool.

As for xbox doom3, oh that'll be nice. lush 640x480 graphics. yum yum :p And you won't even be able to take advantage of THAT unless you have a HDTV...and fi you have a HDTV (most new ones come with DVI input) you could just hook your computer up and run it in a much higher res.

Sorry, but FPS game on a console is the suck. :)

I totally agree. I played Doom on SNES when it first came out and I honestly found the game impossible. When I downloaded the game for PC and played it I found out what people were always raving about. Looking back on William's port of Doom I swear the max framerate was 10 which was why I found it so impossible. Now with it on PC, I can beat the entire Doom series on Ultra-Violence and it's extremely fun. This was what gave me the great awakening of id Software.

Another bad shooter would be Halo and Medal of Honor: Frontline. The controls are terrible! Once you play a FPS on PC, you're hooked and it's over, no going back to console. That's the way I am now. I can't even bear playing a console game since it's not immediate action or anything like a computer game. Screw consoles and those who stand for them. The only console I think is worthy is XBox. It's American and a Microsoft product, can't go wrong there.

You're joking right? Halo freaking rocks. And this is coming from a Cal-I counterstrike player. I love FPS on the PC, but Halo is just badass to play with your friends. Sorry my REAL LIFE FRIENDS...something maybe you dont have? :) It's fun to play co-operative w/ my friends.

To clarify where this date comes from, ID has said that they don't like to show a game twice at E3, which means it would have to ship before the next E3.

maybe they'll have a demo ready or something... i woulda thought it'd be holidy season 03.. this ruins my funding for an upgrade.. heh. but if they do get it out by then.. nvidia better pump out that nv30 soon.. so it can be affordable by then..
