DOOM 3: drastic slowdown after 10-15 minutes of running

I've been playing Doom3 for 2 days, the first minutes the games runs faster ok, but after 10-15 minutes of playing the game it becomes too slow to worth play, seems like a slow motion film, impossible to play. This behavior shows only in this game, i've completed Half Life 2 just fine, CODUO runs great, NFSU2 runs with no problems. so i can't figure out what's happening with doom 3.
I'm thinking its a problem with my video card temperature, because time ago (my old PC), i had the same problem with another game, when I installed the sound card too close to AGP card and reduced heat disipation, then i moved the sound card to another slot and the problem was gone. But this time, this is a new PC, and the video card has no obstacles for heat disipation, also i have installed an slot type fan for extracting heat around video card. And if that is the case, why only doom3 is overheating the video card?, why Half Life 2 runs ok?. I know Doom3 demands more power for video card, but i think the difference with half life 2 not been so much to overheat the video card.
CPU temps are aroud 42 at full load, 40 for CASE
My page File is fixed lenght at 1280mb placed in a second hard drive.
My hard drives are fully defragmented.
I'have been playing with some tweaks via console in the game, could this cause some problems with the game configuration, y reseted the config and the problem persists.
Also, played the game with video card at stock speeds, same problem
Any ideas what could be happening???

my friend tells me 1 gig ram is should be AT LEAST standard for proper FPS gaming.

Go install RivaTuner. I know that of all the games I have (which is way too many), Doom3 increases my video card temp the most. So load up RivaTuner and leave it running while you play so it can record the temps as you play. Also, Doom3 is more picky about overclocked setups as well.

might be running out of ram and starting to swap off the hdd? though, it shouldnt slow it down that much. do you hear hard drive accessses when this happens? your temps are good so thats not it.

wait, you have a 1 mb page file and only 512 MB of ram? what is supposed to happen when all your ram gets used up?

yeh, i suggest getting another stick of 512mb of the same stick of ram.. even if it does not fix this problem (it likely will) your pc will be a lot better, and games will actually run 100% smooth

Sorry for the mistyping, my page file is 1280mb, not 1280k
And yes, there is a little hard disk activity when slowingdown, but not a continuos access, the HD led just flashes a little, i think this is normal because when playing Half Life there is the same hard disk activity and the game runs fine.

Tonight I'll try to remove the case cover and place a BIG desk fan blowing directly inside the case, to see what happens.

The weird thing, is that there is no progressive performance lost, so the game is fine now and 5 seconds later is totally slowed down, I'have not been able to go beyond the 1st. mission, the game suddenly & drastically lost performance when returning to command headquarters after finding the scientist and the 'supernatural event' ocurrs.
