I really cannot believe the bad luck I am having trying to get this game...

I pre-ordered this in July from Outpost... I received an email from them telling me it was backordered and might take up to 30 days for the order to be filled. I attempted to cancel this on the 4th, but they now say it has already been shipped. I have been tracking the package but the estimated delivery date bounced from the 11th to the 18th, then finally today it shows up online as having been delivered, but I never received it. I live in the middle of nowhere, so they didn't deliver it to me, they dropped it off in town, so go down to pick it up.... Been working all day, looking forward to getting off work and installing.... Finally just opened the package to find that one of the CD's is broken and it won't completely install...

Anyone know if Frys will exchange merchandise purchased from outpost? Its about 5 hours each way to the nearest frys, but I don't think I can wait another week to two weeks for a new copy to be sent...

I realize its only a game, but things like this just drive me nuts...
 
Don't worry it's not much of a game. I beat it on nightmare in roughly 8 hours (no cheats). And all of the weapons are pretty useless except shotgun/plasmagun.

No, I've heard from a number of friends that the gameplay itself is pretty disappointing aside from the eye candy graphics.

It is. I bought it last weekend and I haven't played it since the first night.

It's pretty boring.

I was a Doom 1 and 2 freak. I have the 1000 page Doom level design book. I have the CD. I mirrored CDROM.com's Doom 1 directory. I made levels from the time I got home from school until I went to bed.

Doom 3 doesn't deserve the name in my opinion. It should be Quake 4, because that's exactly what it seems like it is. Other than the UAC name, there's nothing Doom about it.
 
Just play Far Cry again...you'll save some money and have more fun.

I don't see why people are having such an orgasm over Doom 3. Repeat after me, "It's not that good!" It's not bad, graphics are pretty cool, but it's run and gun, nothing to see here.
 
I think the biggest dissapointment is the enemy AI, there is no strategy, no real gunfights or sense of accomplishment when you clear a room, walk into a room, enemy appears and walks toward you, shoot enemy...the only time there is any problem is when an enemy appears to the front and to the back at the same time...just use same strategy with a 180 degree turn. Graphics are nice though, and the sound and atmosphere make it definitely worth playing though IMO.
